If Apache Rose wanted to create an album in the style of all the greats, the band has succeeded with its debut collection Attention! This record is sure to pull listeners out of the dolldrums and fires on all Rock N Roll cylinders.
The Moscow-based outfit has released its first album and it’s a winner for us because it captures all the emotions, ups and downs of every day life and turns it into pure sonic pleasure. It’s especially impressive that this band used the inspiration of their favorite bands to realize their musical path. While there is a familiarity in the music, the work is truly a departure from the norm and innovative it its approach.
“We wanted to make an album like the ones we love, the one you could listen on repeat. Like Aerosmith’s Rocks, Metallica’s Kill’em All, Sex Pistols’ Nevermind the Bollocks, Nirvana’s Nevermind, Soundgarden’s Superunknown, Stone Temple Pilots’ Core, Arctic Monkeys’ first album,” the band says. “We hope we succeeded.”
Kudos to Ilya Novokhatskiy is the band’s leader and songwriter, who has taken on a range of subjects. In addition to Novokhatskiy on vocals, guitar and bass, musicians on the album are Vladimir Kornienko on backing vocals, guitar, bass, Stas Opoichenkov on drums and Maxim Vinokurov on drums. Producers are Novokhatskiy, Vladimir Kornienko and Anton Boyko. Current band members are Novokhatskiy on vocals, Vladimir Kornienko on guitars, Simon Lepyoshkin on bass and Eugene Bordan on drums.
“Hell” starts off with a retro radio sound and laments the incomplete accomplishments in life, but, hey life goes on, too bad for all of those people we wasted our time on or never got to. It’s something you want to tell anyone who ever betrayed you or simply failed you.
“Easy” was a good selection for a video as it is action-packed and shows the guys having a good time, on a desolate highway in black and white. “On my watch” is a fun and raucous rocker that tears the house down.
“Attention!” the title track is a call to arms to those who want to make a mark. It captures the desire many people feel for outside validation, but is it really all that important or is it enough to experience your personal satisfaction, the band seems to ask.
Overall Attention! is an excellent rock album that goes to prove that with some creativity and a good team it is possible to achieve remarkable sonic results.
