Alison Mosshart is really good at taking her unique experiences and transforming them into visual art and music that speaks to everyone.
Mosshart makes her foray into the solo world with her new single “Rise,” and she directed, edited and produced the accompanying video. The video has a cool, noir-ish look of late night on the streets of Los Angeles and Mosshart gives the viewers a sneak peek into the world of low rider culture. The guys must have been happy to have her around, as this down-to-earth and talented musician makes a practice to give respect and she gets plenty in return.
Mosshart is a car fanatic, even publishing a book of art and photography last year called “Car Ma.” And in her new video, the hoppin’ rides in “Rise” steal the spotlight. The DIY-minded owners of these low riders are unique auto enthusiasts whose significant investments cruise the streets of LA. And there’s no doubt Mosshart made some new friends among these tough car guys.
Alison Mosshart Helps Collaborators to Also ‘Rise’
The adaptable Mosshart has worked with a range of fellow rockers including Dead Weather bandmate Jack White, the Arctic Monkeys, Gang Of Four, Primal Scream, Cage The Elephant, Foo Fighters, Mini Mansions and James Williamson.
Cars and animal print clothing aside, Mosshart has one of the best voices in Rock N Roll, which is all too often eclipsed by wild electric guitar and her fierce and captivating delivery.
Of course Mosshart is best known for her work with bandmate Jamie Hince in The Kills, who have a new record waiting in the wings.
Mosshart has a lot of unreleased music and “Rise” is one of the songs that have been backlogged in her catalog since 2013. “Rise” was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Lawrence Rothman.
She’s working with Hince on the next record for The Kills and says she’s dreaming of the day they’ll be back on the road.
