Lynn Anderson fans can get high quality recordings of several of her most popular albums, which have been remastered and rereleased, including Singing My Song and Stay There Til I Get There.
Singing My Song and Stay There Til I Get There have be released by Legacy Recordings. Sony Legacy Recordings rereleased two additional albums, Cry, and Listen To A Country Song.
Anderson’s sophisticated vocals and upbeat songs lent a pop style to country and gave her mass crossover appeal. Anderson was the first female country singer to perform on “The Tonight Show,” she was the first to headline and sell out Madison Square Garden in New York City, and was the first female to win an American Music Award.
She gained international fame for her chart-topping tune “(I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden.” The Joe South song may have been written from a male’s point of view but Anderson’s 1970 performance gave it a wistful and sassy interpretation. On the album Singing My Song, she performed a heart-rending version of the Bobby Russell No. 1 hit made famous in 1968 by Bobby Goldsboro, “Honey I Miss You.” Anderson passed away in July of 2015 from a heart attack after contracting pneumonia.
“It is so exciting to have not only ‘Cry’ and ‘Listen To A Country Song’ available digitally, but now we have ‘Singing My Song’ and ‘Stay There ‘Til I Get There’ as well,” said Anderson’s daughter, Lisa Sutton. “These are all albums that were only available on the original recordings. Now, they are back out there and sounding as good as ever. This is a wonderful way for old fans and new ones alike to come together through music.”
