To the disappointment of adoring fans around the U.S., The Buttertones were forced to cancel their summer tour.
Cobi the drummer is looking at the strong possibility that he may have to have a cornea replaced, following a serious eye infection, according to a post on the band’s Instagram page.
The Buttertones — Richard, Cobi, Sean and London — recently headlined the Dirty Penni Fest at The Echoplex. Last year the band released its album “Midnight in a Moonlight Dream.”
The guys recently posted on its Instagram that they were disappointed about the tour cancellation but it is necessary to allow time to let their beloved drummer heal.
“We’d like to thank everyone for being so understanding during this rough stretch,” they posted on Instagram. “Still gutted about canceling the tour, but truly amazed by the words of encouragement and support we’ve received.
“Cobi is doing a little better, but it definitely looks like he’s going to need a new cornea before we can resume full band operations. Pretty hardcore.”
The Buttertones remaining dates were Nashville on July 31; Houston on Aug. 2; Austin on Aug. 3; Dallas on Aug. 4; San Antonio on Aug. 6; El Paso on Aug. 7; Denver on Aug. 9 and Salt Lake City on Aug. 10.
Meanwhile The Buttertones put its merch on its website and said they will be preparing their fifth album.
