Once again, Kurt Russell finds himself singing the blues in jail with Little Steven in “The Christmas Chronicles” on Netflix this holiday season.
But it’s all a good time as actor Russell shows some impressive musical chops with Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul in the holiday favorite.
In “The Christmas Chronicles,” Russell is a modernized Santa, who through a series of mishaps finds himself in jail. But fortunately he’s cellmates with none other than Little Steven and his musical crew. Santa is the frontman on the song “Santa Claus Is Back in Town.”

The producer is Chris Columbus, the storyteller known for “Adventures in Babysitting,” another similar romp with a young person’s perspective.
Columbus has called on Van Zandt in the past. He used Van Zandt’s “All Alone on Christmas” in another famous holiday flick, “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.” Van Zandt’s favorite pal, Darlene Love, was the singer. “The Christmas Chronicles” is directed by Clay Kaytis.
Kurt Russell Sings in The Christmas Chronicles
OK storyline for “The Christmas Chronicles” – Two kids wrangle Santa’s sled, make it crash and Santa winds up in jail. And his cell buddies? Wolfie, played by Van Zandt, and The Disciples of Soul. It’s the first time we’ve seen Van Zandt without the bandana except for his coiffed days on “The Sopranos.”
